We equip families with the knowledge and skills to care for their children and connect them with community support, because we know that no one can travel the lifelong journey of parenting alone.  In November 2020, we shared some special stories of families built through adoption as part of Adoption Awareness Month.  Thanks to your support, we helped to build strong adoptive families, including these:

Mr & Mrs Tam’s adoptive family

Part 1:  Adoption is almost like fate. Though different, they get along well.  Our vision is to see every child in a loving family. We believe every family is unique. That family is defined by love and commitment, not just by blood.

Part 2:  Things may not happen as easily as one would imagine, but as long as you are ready for this sort of challenge, the benefits far outweigh the concerns.  Our vision is to see every child in a loving family. We believe every family is unique. That family is defined by love and commitment, not just by blood.

Mr & Mrs Jacques’ adoptive family story.

For them, adoption is their way of having a family, bonded by love and commitment, more than just by blood. If you ask the children: what’s a family?  They’d tell you: it means Daddy, Mommy, Aidan and Rosie.

Mr & Mrs Hau’s adoptive family story

Part 1:  Mr & Mrs Hau love children.  During dating, they shared dreams of having how many children they would have when they have a family.  Adoption never came across their minds.  To them, adoption is seldom heard, this is remote, nothing to do with them.  However, when they have tried every route and still could not have their own child, they gradually start asking themselves: Is adoption the path to have our child?  Are we able to take on the challenges?

Part 2:  Though he’s of a young age, yet his previous experience and memories have an impact on him. But it’s perfectly fine. Their love to him is beyond borders and conditions.

Gary and Helen Stephens

Two-year-old Jacob had lived in four different institutions before Helen and Gary Stephens, co-founders of Mother’s Choice, found him and brought him to their home for children with special needs. They adopted him in 1998.  Listen to Helen as she shares one of her favourite stories of Jacob’s earlier years.  Gary has taken up the mantle to be an advocate and a voice for these children without families.

Our vision is to see every child in a loving family.  We believe every family is unique.  That family is defined by love and commitment, not just by blood.  If you are interested to learn more about adoption and about these waiting children, we invite you to join our next online Adoption Information Session, stay tuned!
