(1) Why did you first decide to go into Community Education?

Because of my passion in working with children and youth. My first job after graduation was to work with school kids and youth to promote a healthy lifestyle and prevent substance abuse. I had the chance to visit different schools and agencies and met kids from diverse backgrounds and from all corners of Hong Kong. From that experience, I realized the impact it can have on the younger generation when they are equipped with knowledge, skills and positive attitude. Prevention is a much stronger tool than intervention in enhancing one’s well-being. That’s why I was drawn to community education.

(2) Why did you first decide to work for Mother’s Choice?

Since I was a kid, I knew that Mother’s Choice is very well-known for helping young girls in crisis.  When I first saw the job ad of Mother’s Choice, I thought adding a well-known name on my CV would be helpful in long run.  I did wonder though if it was a female-only organization and if they needed more male staff!  So I tried my luck and sent the application.  When I came in for the interview, I was so inspired by my then-boss, who passionately talked about how comprehensive sexuality education contributes to the holistic development of youth. And I have been here for almost 5 years now!

(3) What are the things you love best about working at Mother’s Choice?

The team here doesn’t treat working at Mother’s Choice as “a job”, but as “a mission”. We all have the heart to bring hope to vulnerable children and youth. It is always a blessing to work with like-minded people. I also enjoy the multi-cultural environment at Mother’s Choice, where I work closely with colleagues who come from 5 different continents!
