Meet Oaklynn. She was born with serious medical challenges and her birth mother made a brave decision to choose adoption for her.
For the last 4 years of her life in Hong Kong, she was lovingly cared for at Mother’s Choice. In this home, the staff and volunteers helped Oaklynn to reach her fullest potential with daily therapy and highly individualized care.
Oaklynn was matched with a family in the United States. but it still took two years of advocating for her, and nearly 3 LONG years of paperwork. The last big hurdle was COVID as the family could not travel to Hong Kong in the midst of the fifth wave.
So Mother’s Choice organized a team to get this precious girl home to her forever family. A Board member volunteered to personally accompany Oaklynn and came every morning at 6:00 to learn how to feed and care for Oaklynn for the long flight to Chicago. There were so many others who worked hard behind the scenes, both in Hong Kong and the United States, to ensure every step in this complex travel was smooth and that Oaklynn was well-supported.
It was a long wait, but every second was worth it.

The change that takes place once a child is HOME is nothing short of a miracle before our eyes.
